Terms of Service

Please read these Terms of Service (“Terms”) carefully before using ChefExtract — including the web application (chefextract.com), the iOS application, and the Android application(collectively, the “Services”) operated by Lorsu OY(“we”, “us”, “our”).

By accessing or using the Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.

1. Description of the Service

ChefExtract is an AI-powered recipe extraction tool that allows you to:

  • Extract recipes from YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, food blog URLs, and other website links
  • Scan food photos to identify and extract recipes
  • Save, organise, and edit extracted recipes
  • Generate recipe variations using artificial intelligence
  • Manage a shopping list synced across your devices (account required)

The Services are available as a web application at chefextract.com, as an iOS app on the Apple App Store, and as an Android app on Google Play.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Services. By using the Services, you confirm that you meet this requirement. If you are under 18, you confirm that you have parental or guardian consent.

3. User Accounts

Guest Use

You may use the recipe extraction feature once without creating an account. Saving recipes and accessing additional features requires creating an account.

Account Registration

When you create an account, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate and complete information
  • Keep your credentials secure and confidential
  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorised access to your account
  • Be responsible for all activity that occurs under your account

We support sign-in via Google (all platforms), Apple (iOS only), and email/password.

4. Subscriptions and Payments

Free Tier

The free tier includes up to 5 recipe extractions per year and storage of up to 5 recipes.

ChefExtract Pro

The Pro subscription (“ChefExtract Pro”) provides unlimited extractions and unlimited recipe storage, provided that use remains within normal and fair use limits (for example, fewer than 10 extractions per month on average). We reserve the right to block, throttle, or restrict usage we deem excessive. No partial refunds are issued.

Subscription details:

  • Billing: Yearly subscription, charged through the Apple App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android)
  • Auto-renewal: Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period
  • Cancellation on iOS:Manage or cancel via Settings › [Your Name] › Subscriptions. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — no partial refunds are issued
  • Cancellation on Android:Manage or cancel via Google Play › Subscriptions. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — no partial refunds are issued
  • Price changes: We may change subscription pricing with advance notice. Continued use after a price change constitutes acceptance

All payments are processed by Apple (iOS) or Google (Android). We do not store your payment information. The applicable platform’s payment terms and refund policies apply.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Services to:

  • Violate any applicable law or regulation
  • Infringe the intellectual property rights of any third party
  • Scrape, crawl, or extract content from websites in violation of their terms of service
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Services
  • Transmit malware, viruses, or other harmful code
  • Harass, abuse, or harm other users or third parties
  • Use the Services for any commercial purpose not expressly permitted by us

6. Content and Intellectual Property

Your Content

Recipes you extract, save, update, or modify remain yours. By using the Services, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to store and process your content solely for the purpose of providing the Services.

Third-Party Content

Recipes extracted from YouTube, food blogs, Instagram, TikTok, and other websites are the intellectual property of their respective owners. ChefExtract provides an extraction tool for personal, non-commercial use. You are responsible for ensuring your use of extracted content complies with the original source’s terms and applicable copyright law.

Our Intellectual Property

The Services, their design, code, branding, and all original content created by us are our exclusive property. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without our written permission.

7. Third-Party Services

The Services integrate with third-party services, including:

  • Google / YouTube— for video metadata and authentication
  • Google Gemini API— for AI-powered recipe extraction
  • Firebase— for authentication and data storage
  • RevenueCat— for subscription management
  • Apple App Store— for payment processing on iOS
  • Google Play Store— for payment processing on Android
  • Any other third-party services that may be implemented in the future

Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the practices of these third parties.

8. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and share information about you when you use our Services. By using the Services, you agree to our Privacy Policy.

9. Disclaimers

The Services are provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to:

  • Warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose
  • Uninterrupted, error-free, or secure operation
  • Accuracy or completeness of AI-extracted recipe content

AI extraction results may be incomplete, inaccurate, or vary in quality depending on the source material. Always verify recipes before preparing food, particularly regarding allergens, dietary requirements, and food safety.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Services, including but not limited to:

  • Reliance on AI-extracted recipe content
  • Loss of data or saved recipes
  • Service interruptions or downtime

Our total liability for any claim arising from these Terms or the Services shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

11. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Services at any time, with or without notice, if you breach these Terms or for any other reason at our discretion. Upon termination, your right to use the Services ceases immediately.

You may delete your account at any time from the Profile screen within the mobile app, or from your account settings on the web. See our Delete Account page for details on what data is removed.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this document or by in-app notification. Continued use of the Services after changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Finland, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Finland.
