This Privacy Policy explains how Lorsu OY(“we”, “us”, “our”) handles information when you use ChefExtract — including the web application (chefextract.com), the iOS application, and the Android application(collectively, the “Services”).

Information We Collect

Account Information

If you create an account, we collect:

  • Email address— when you register with email/password
  • Google profile information(name, email, profile picture) — if you sign in with Google
  • Apple profile information(name, email or private relay email) — if you sign in with Apple (iOS only)
  • Account identifiers— a unique user ID assigned through authentication

Guest Use

If you use the Services without creating an account, a temporary anonymous session is created. No personal information is linked to this session. On mobile, the session is local to your device and is discarded when you sign in or uninstall the app. On web, the session is local to your browser.

Recipe Content

Recipes you extract and save are stored in our database, linked to your account. This includes recipe text, ingredients, steps, notes, and any thumbnail images you associate with a recipe.

Subscription Information

If you subscribe to ChefExtract Pro, your subscription status is managed by RevenueCat. We receive limited subscription state information (e.g. active/expired) but do not store your payment details — those are handled entirely by the relevant payment processor:

  • Apple App Store— for subscriptions purchased on iOS
  • Google Play Store— for subscriptions purchased on Android

Analytics and Diagnostics

We may collect standard analytics data such as app usage statistics, device type, operating system version, and crash reports. On the web, we use Google Analytics (GA4) to collect anonymised usage data, which may include pages visited, session duration, and browser type. This helps us improve performance and stability across all platforms.

Web-Specific Data

When you use the web version of ChefExtract, we may also collect:

  • Browser and device information— browser type, operating system, screen resolution
  • Usage data— pages visited, features used, time spent
  • Cookies and local storage— to maintain your session and preferences (see Cookies section below)

Content Submitted for Extraction

When you extract a recipe, the URL, image, or text you submit is sent to our backend and processed by Google Gemini AI. We do not permanently store the raw input content you submit for extraction beyond what is necessary to complete the request.

Cookies and Local Storage (Web)

The web version of ChefExtract uses cookies and browser local storage to:

  • Maintain your authenticated session
  • Store your preferences (language, unit system)
  • Collect anonymised analytics via Google Analytics

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect the functionality of the web application.

How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide and operate the Services and their features
  • Authenticate your identity and manage your account
  • Store and sync your saved recipes across sessions and devices
  • Process and manage your subscription
  • Improve performance, fix bugs, and develop new features
  • Respond to support requests

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the following third-party service providers, solely to operate the Services:

Data Retention

  • Account data is retained as long as your account is active
  • Recipe content is stored until you delete it or delete your account
  • Anonymous session data is not retained on our servers beyond the session
  • Web analytics datais retained according to Google Analytics’ data retention settings (default: 14 months)
  • You may delete your account at any time from the Profile screen within the mobile app or from your account settings on the web, which removes your account and all associated recipe data

Data Security

We implement reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data. Your data is stored in Firebase infrastructure, which includes encryption at rest and in transit. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

Children's Privacy

ChefExtract does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 (or 16 where required by applicable local law). If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights under applicable data protection laws, including the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the details below.

Platform-Specific Notices

iOS

ChefExtract on iOS is distributed through the Apple App Store. Apple’s privacy practices are governed by the Apple Privacy Policy. Subscription payments on iOS are processed by Apple.

Android

ChefExtract on Android is distributed through the Google Play Store. Google’s privacy practices are governed by the Google Privacy Policy. Subscription payments on Android are processed by Google.

Web

The web version of ChefExtract is accessible at chefextract.com. It uses cookies and browser local storage as described in the Cookies section above.
